Click here to enlarge the map and read on below how to use it:
- To get started, make sure you're logged into the Google Maps app with a Gmail account. This is especially important if you're accessing the map from a mobile device, as you won't be able to open it otherwise.
- If you are viewing the map from your smart phone, click on the button on the right top corner of the map above ‘View Larger Map’, and it will open in your Google Maps.
- Once the map is open, you can view the map’s legend. This will display all the categories, such as Restaurants, German Schools, Things to Do, Bars, etc. The legend also explains the meaning of each colour and icon, making it easier for you to navigate.
- To find the map legend, in your Google Maps, click on ‘Saved’ at the bottom of the app, then scroll to the bottom and click on ‘Maps’, then click on Hannah’s Hamburg, and you can see the map legend. See below:
In the map legend, you can toggle the visibility of categories on and off, depending on what you want to explore.
Clicking on a pin will give you more detailed information and recommendations about some locations, including what makes them special or what to order. (Note: Detailed comments and suggestions are also only accessible through a web browser at this time.)
If you’re using a phone and want to see more information about a pinned location, such as Google reviews or phone numbers, just go to the search bar where the name of the location is already displayed, tap on it, and press enter (refresh). The additional Google info will then appear.
Browser Only
To search for specific locations, open the map in wide-screen and type keywords like "Asian restaurant" or "Karaoke" in the search bar. The map will highlight pins that match your search. (Note: This feature is only available through a web browser.)
Enjoy exploring Hamburg like a local!
